Picture Book (2)

Little Cloud written and illustrated by Eric Carle
  • Suggested Grade Level: Kindergarten or first grade. The simple, predictable plot and corresponding illustrations are understandable for young children.
  • Summary: This book follows a little cloud as it journeys across the sky. It transforms from one shape to another. At the end of the book, all the clouds come together to form one big cloud and produce rain. The fun illustrations and the vibrant colors are sure to attract kids' attention.
  • Classroom Skills and Strategies:
    • This book can open up a conversation for different types of clouds and their characteristics.
    • It can also be used to get the classroom moving and participating through acting out the various roles that the cloud takes on.
  • ESOL Strategies/Applications:
    • Clearly depicted illustrations
    • Incorporate art projects
  • Read Aloud: All
  • Personal Opinion: I think this book is a good introduction for several different content areas which is great. It would be good for shared reading because of the predictabe and repetitive nature of the story. It is a cute book and I plan to use it in my future classroom.
